Teens in grades 6-12 can take part in Volusia County Public Library’s third annual Teen Winter Reading Challenge through Beanstack!

Beanstack is a free digital platform designed to help users track reading and log activities. Teens can learn more and register starting December 4 by visiting https://volusialibrary.org/teens/ or stopping by their local branch.

In the challenge, teens will complete reading and other activities to earn prizes. The challenge will run from December 18, 2023, to January 14, 2024, and is designed for those in grades 6 through 12.

The social worker in the library program provides information on utility and rental payments, SNAP, career source referrals, and other resources within the County. 

 Scheduled appointments are available on the first and third Tuesday mornings at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library from 10:00am-1pm. Afternoon walk-in assistance is available from 2pm-5:30pm. 

 Appointments can also be scheduled for the Daytona Beach Regional Library on Mondays and Thursdays and the Ormond Beach Regional Library on Wednesdays. Appointments can be made at the Port Orange Regional Library on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. Appointments can be made at the Daytona Beach Regional Library on the 1^st and 3^rd Friday and the Deltona Regional Library on the 2^nd and 4^th Friday of the month.

New to using a computer?  Adults can learn the parts of a computer, as well as simple computer operations.  Space is limited.

Ready to Learn Pre-K Storytime is an interactive 21^st Century literacy program designed for children ages 3-5. Children and caregivers are introduced to a wide variety of kindergarten readiness skills through stories, rhymes, music, and motor activities in a fun and educational environment. 

The Computer Lab offers one-on-one instruction in a quiet facility. Computer Lab hours are available for questions about basic computer use, email, the Internet, eBooks, and job search/resume writing. 

S.T.R.E.A.M. is an interactive multi-literacy program that integrates Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math concepts aimed at developing innovation, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. School age children are introduced to the building blocks of one or more S.T.R.E.A.M learning concepts through exploratory hands-on activities in a fun and educational environment. Kids can let their imagination soar with hands-on building challenges with LEGO blocks.

Attend social dance nights at the library! Members of the NSB Dance Club will provide instruction on popular types of social dancing. In January, learn the cha-cha and line dancing. In February, learn east coast swing and line dancing! No partners needed.
