Social Worker in the Library (Port Orange)

The social worker in the library program provides information on utility and rental payments, SNAP, career source referrals, and other resources within the County. 

 Scheduled appointments are available on the second and fourth Tuesday mornings at the Port Orange Regional Library from 10:00am-1pm. Afternoon walk-in assistance is available from 2pm-5:30pm. 

 Appointments can also be scheduled for the Daytona Beach Regional Library on Mondays and Thursdays and the Ormond Beach Regional Library on Wednesdays. Appointments can be made at the New Smyrna Regional Library on the first and third Thursday of the month. Appointments can be made at the Daytona Beach Regional Library on the 1st and 3rd Friday and the Deltona Regional Library on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month.

Storytime in the Park with "Story Stroll" Celebration!

Join us during Storytime in the Park as the new book for the Story Stroll in City Center Park is launched! After storytime, walk around the lake to read and interact with the book This Is the Nest That Robin Built by Denise Fleming, which is posted page by page around the park. Can’t make it then? The Story Stroll will be available for three months, anytime the park is open! Presented by Port Orange Parks and Recreation and Volusia County Public Library. Planned for ages 2-5 (though all children are welcome). Join us for a weekly outdoor storytime in City Center Park (next to City Hall) across from the library. Don’t forget to bring a towel or chair to sit on, water and sunglasses! May be canceled due to weather.

S.T.R.E.A.M.: “Let’s Eat” featuring Recipes & Reads

S.T.R.E.A.M. is an interactive multi-literacy program that integrates Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math concepts aimed at developing innovation, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. School age children are introduced to the building blocks of one or more S.T.R.E.A.M learning concepts through exploratory hands-on activities in a fun and educational environment. Join us for an afternoon snack that will give you the chance to shop for your own ingredients with library bucks you earn through fun games and activities.  K-5th grade.   

This project was funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida’s LSTA program is administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and  Information Services.
